Castelnuovo del Garda

Die Castelnuovo del Garda is a town of the province of Verona located right near Lake Garda. In the XII century Quadrivium was razed to the ground by Barbarossa: the people decided to build a fortified resettlement, “Castrum novum”, which was changed during the time into Castelnuovo.

In 1630 Castelnuovo was struck by plegue which decimated the population, bringing the number of inhabitants from 1130 to 387.




April 11th-April 12th 1848 the battle of Castelnuovo took place, and the town suffered the shame of s raid carried out by Austrian soldiers who laid the town waste burning almost all the homes and killing a great number of inhabitants including women, aged people and children.

"Campanello" beach which is located in the Campanello area and "Ronchi" beach (next to Peschiera, the locality in which the amusement park has been set up) offer tourists services and facilities for swimming, in the Lake Garda.
At this moment in time Castelnuovo del Garda is famous for the presence on its territory of the amusement park called Gardaland.
