Malcesine, Riva del Garda und Torri del Benàco are the three main towns situated on the higher eastern shore of Lake Garda. To be exact, Riva is located in the northern extremity of Lake Garda and is part of the province of Trento.
Malcesine: Alpine landscapes in Lake Garda
Malcesine Malcesine is one of the most characteristic towns of Lake Garda featuring a great territorial extension which goes from Lake Garda’s shores up to Mount Baldo’s high peaks. This means there is no sense of underlining the fact that the climate is various enough. The more you go up the slopes of Mount Baldo (there is a wonderful panoramic cable way) the more the climate and the landscape become more Alpine kind. From Mount Baldo’s top you can see one of Italy’s most beautiful views. Malcesine is an ideal destination for those who love “extreme” sports like paragliding.
Riva: tourism and sports
Riva del Garda located on the north extremity of Lake Garda, it can be easily reached by taking the Brennero motorway. Wind surf lovers will find their ideal base in Riva del Garda since the entire area is characterized by strong winds and a light waves. The mountains in the back of Riva are an important attractive for those who love going for walks or mountain climbing. It is not difficult to find accommodation in Riva both in the excellent ten-year tradition hotels and in the well equipped recent tradition camping sites.
Torri: quietness and splendid panoramas
Torri del Benaco is a small town which is also situated on the lake’s eastern shore, north of Garda and south of Malcesine. Torri del Benaco is a peace and quiet place, having less traffic which usually the rest of the towns around the lake do (especially the lower part of the lake) and it is situated on the slopes of the Mount Baldo’s long chain.
