| The wing called Schifamondo (meaning “Banish the World”), houses the Auditorium, where visitors can either admire an exposition of photographs or follow a travelling exhibition on the Poet’s life, as well as the War Museum, it boasts a rich and precious historic heritage bearing witness to Gabriele d’Annunzio’s audacious deeds during World War One. The Cruiser Puglia, is an extraordinary gift the Poet got from the Navy in 1925. The Mausoleum, containing d’Annunzio’s tomb and the urns of his wartime companions who took part in the conquest of Fiume, is situated on top of the highest hill. The Prioria Gardens were the first to be created and contain important trophies and works of art such as the Arengo where, in the middle of a magnolia thicket, 17 columns were raised as a memorial to the victories gained during World War One. The paths through the Citrus orchards and the garden, lead to another orchard, where visitors can admire the Canefora, a very valuable bronze by Napoleone Martinuzzi. | |||
